Announcements: Good Morning Scots! It is “D”ETERMINATION Friday! Be in fearless pursuit of what sets your soul on fire-Mrs. Goodspeed!

Do you like to sing and dance, but don’t think you can sing? Well, FFA is putting on a school-wide Lip Sync Battle on October 23rd from 5:00pm to 7:30pm! Form groups or go solo, and audition to be a part of the lip sync battle. Auditions will be held on Today lunch and after school in Mr. Thompson’s room. Make sure to pick school-friendly songs and practice, practice, practice! FFA challenges ASB, faculty, sports groups, theatre, and YOU!””

School Lunch Lots 2 Love (NSLW) is being celebrated next week in the cafeteria from Oct.15th-Oct.19th !! Food Tip- Eat more whole grains to provide you with a feeling of fullness and key nutrients. Choose whole wheat bread, pasta & brown rice instead of white bread or rice or other refined grains.

SENIORS – The senior panoramic picture will be taking place next Monday during 3rd period in the stadium.  Please report to your 3rd period for attendance first and then come down to the stadium.  DO NOT be late!!! 

Seniors – The senior yearbook picture deadline is fast approaching! The deadline is November 1st and must be taken by Carlos Murrillo Photography.

SENIORS!  Kern Community Foundation will be giving a scholarship presentation on October 18th if you’re not signed up come to the career center 2A to attend.

Congratulations to this year’s Lad & Lass nominees!  These are students who have demonstrated all PLAID attributes with an emphasis in the following areas: leadership in Highland activities, scholarship (minimum 3.2GPA) and service to Highland.  Lass nominees are: Alexa Coburn, Sophia Fabrizio, Evannah Graves, McKall Henrie, Madelyn Melanson and Victoria Santore-Tovar. Lad nominees are:  Mathew Bayaca, Jahi Hudgins, Mathew Miranda, Roy Valdez, Caleb Vaquera, and Peter Wykoff. Staff and students will vote for these nominees, so be sure to come out and vote next Tuesday during lunch! Winners will be announced at the October 19th varsity football game.   

Club News

Scots En Accion's purpose is to enrich Hispanic culture and to provide opportunities to speak Spanish and learn more about the Hispanic world. Everyone is welcome to join! For more information you may contact Ms. Alatorre, Mr. Sanchez, or Mr. Juarez. Club Scots En Accion (Scots in action) will meet every Thursday during lunch in room 14C. See you there!  

Red Cross Club Announcement-- 

The Hurricane Florence relief donation was a success. We raised $450! Thank you to all those who participated. The top three donating classrooms were Parra with $84, Chapman with $39 and Crosby with $34.
