General ANNOUNCEMENTS:

First Woman Representative: Shirley Chisholm was the first African American woman elected to the House of Representatives. She was elected in 1968 and represented the state of New York. She broke ground again four years later in 1972 when she was the first major party African-American candidate and the first female candidate for president of the United States.

The LAST Cash for College workshop will be this Thursday, February 15th from 5:30 to 7:30 in the Library. Please bring yourself, parents and last year’s tax returns to the workshop. We’ll have plenty of assistance to help you with your financial aid needs. Don’t delay, the FAFSA deadline is March, 1, 2018. 

The Lincoln Day Essay is due no later than noon on February 15th. Please bring all completed essays to Mrs. Carter in 2A. First, second and third place winners will be presented with scholarships of $2000, $1000 and $750 dollars at the annual Kern County Lincoln Day dinner.

Are you in need of community service hours? Eissler Elementary is having their Annual Father and Daughter dance this Friday, February 16th and are need of volunteers. Please come by 2A and ask Mrs. Carter for more details.

Seniors – If you did not order with Herff Jones on Wednesday during lunch – don’t stress!!! You can order on line at HerffJones.com or go by their office.  You must order by February 28th to avoid the late fee!! That is also the deadline for rentals.  Please see Mrs. Barber-Smith with any questions.

Attention Winter Athletes: The Scholar Athlete Awards are right around the corner on February 20th. Stop by the counseling area or the athletic office to see if your name is posted. *You must have a 3.5 GPA for your semester 1 grades to receive a scholar athlete award. Congratulations on your achievement!

Students are not allowed to park at the staff parking lot by the administration building.  Students who park at the staff parking lot will be cited.  Thank you.

The cafeteria staff will be serving Dinner Monday thru Friday 4:30- 6:00 in the cafeteria.

Interested in cheer-leading for our sports teams, stunting at our rallies, or learning a few tumbling tricks? Well, Highland Cheer Tryouts are approaching soon! March 19-22. We will also be having a mandatory parent/student meeting Thursday March 1st, in the Library at 6PM. See Coach Abe for more details!

If you ordered a senior panoramic picture, they are in the athletic office ready to be picked up. You can pick them up before school, during lunch or after school.

Junior Class Council Members – there will be a mandatory but brief meeting in room 7C at lunch.  We will be discussing the prom.  Grab your lunch and head on over.

  • FCA meeting this Thursday in 5K at lunch. All are welcome to join in fellowship, as we gather for worship. Don’t miss out.

  • If you bought a Valentine’s Day gram from ASL Club & AdvoCats, and it didn’t get delivered, you can come to 14B during lunch or after school to pick it up.
