Announcements:
- Attention all 9thGraders: If you want to be a leader on campus and help make decisions for the Freshman class, 9th Grade Class Council applications are now available! Stop by the Activities Office (next to the girl’s restroom in building 3) to pick one up! Applications are due August 27th. Good luck!!
- Scots! Welcome back! Be sure to pick up your school ID this Friday at lunch out by the Finance Office. The first 500 students to get their ID will get a free LaRosa bar!
- Scots - This year there will be no ASB stickers. Instead - ALL students who have a Highland ID card will get into all athletic events where Highland is playing for FREE! You must have your actual ID card to enter event.
- Seniors - If you have not scheduled your FREE senior yearbook picture with Carlos Murillo Photography, don't worry! He will be on campus taking pictures next week 8/20 periods 1-3 and 8/21 periods 5-7 during your government or Econ class. If you would still like to schedule an appointment with him for off campus - contact him at: 661-332-4170. Only pictures taken by Carlos Murillo Photography will be used in the yearbook.
- Who's ready for our first varsity football game of the season? This year we continue the Battle of the Blocks with East on Friday, August 22nd at East High School. Battle of the Blocks shirts are now on sale in the Finance Office for $30. Shirts are limited, so don't wait to purchase yours!
- Scots! Lunch will be served behind the 8 building across from the gym. There will be 2 lines open as well as the quick cafe by the Gym and the food car will be operating for lunch as well.
- Staff and Students! Welcome to PLAID Fest! We have a lot of great activities to welcome you back this year! Join us on the first day of school for our PLAID Festival during 3rdperiod with a DJ, photobooth, face painting, carnival games, petting zoo and much more! Thursday, we have the world-famous motivational speaker and American Ninja Warrior, Hoan Do, speaking to us and finally on Friday we have our PLAID Welcome Rally, Senior Assembly, and La Rosa bars for picking up your school ID cards! Get ready for a fun packed week back at Highland High School!

- Are you overheated? Does a dip in "Loch Ness", the Highland pool, sound good to you? If so, please see Coach Prasser in room 4pi for information about joining the Water Polo team ASAP.
- Hey Scots! It's time to get these shows on the road! Highland Drama is starting off the year with a bang! Auditions for our first musical of the year, MEAN GIRLS, will be held September 2nd, 3rd, and 4th after school! Performances happen in November! This production will count as an 8th period class! We are looking for singers, dancers, and actors! Everyone is welcome to audition! Come be part of an award-winning program! Also, as an added bonus, Highland will have Broadway superstar Kerry Butler coming to work with the cast of Mean Girls! You may know Kerry from the original Broadway cast of Beetlejuice where she played Barbara, the original Penny Pingleton in Hairspray, or currently playing Miss Fleming in the musical Heathers off-Broadway!
