Announcements:

 

  • Scots!! Drum roll please. . . . . . .  It was very, very close, but Mr. Parra's second-period class has won the Palisades High School Supply Drive competition!  Parra's class will be getting donuts for their efforts! Good job! A big shout out to Mr. LeClair and Ms. DeLateur classes as they brought in a pretty heft amount of items as well.  Thank you also to Stockdale, Arvin, Golden Valley and Frontier for being part of this drive to help fellow students and staff affected by the Los Angeles fires. 

 

  • Scots! Our second blood drive of the year is fast approaching on Friday, March 7th!  Students aged 16 and older are eligible to donate. Please stop by the Activities Office to pick up and drop off your permission slips to save a life.  

 

  • Seniors!  Grad Night tickets are currently on sale in the Finance Office for $135.00 to go to 6 Flags Magic Mountain.  Tickets are pre-sold only and will not be sold past March 28th! Stop by the Activities Office to pick up your permission slip which is required to buy your ticket.

 

  • Students! Please remember that you must have a valid school ID for all transactions in the Finance Office. If you have lost or need a replacement ID, please stop by the library to order a new one. 

 

  • Students - Prom will be here soon.  Save the date!  May 3rdat World Records (2815 F Street) from 730pm-1030pm.   More details will be posted as soon as they are available. 

 

 

  • Black history fact of the day: Macon Bolling Allen born in 1816 is believed to be the first black man in the United States who was licensed to practice law. He became a justice of the peace in Massachusetts, making him the first African-American judicial official. He also helped form Whipper, Elliot, and Allen, the first known African-American law firm in the United States. Continuing his judicial aspirations, Allen was on the Inferior Court of Charleston and eventually on a probate court.

  • Hey Scots did you know that February 15th-22nd is National FFA Week!  AG fact of the day: Agriculture is the largest employer in the world with over 40% of the global population employed within the agriculture sector. In honor of FFA week, FFA will be hosting many events throughout this week! Here are the events. February 19th- Today at lunch in the quad will be a mini–Farmers Market, come out and learn about Some of our California produced AG products and try some of those products for free! February 20th- After School at the farm will be a movie night, (Movie TBD), there will be candy available for purchase, feel free to bring your own chairs! February 21th- at lunch will be Kiss A Pig throughout the week teachers will compete by raising money, the teacher with the most money will have to Kiss A Pig. Donate to the following teachers to have them Kiss A Pig. Gillett- Room 3I, McGrath- Room 3H, Begin- Room 16D, Donez- Room 12A, MBS- Activities Office Valdez- 14D, In the lead to kiss the pig is Mr. McGrath with $27.13

 

  • This Wednesday, February 19th, there will be a Track team meeting in Coach Matney’s room at 4:15. He is in building 6, classroom F.   If you plan on continuing to be a part of our program this season, it is imperative that you are present as we will cover very important topics.  We will have practice after the meeting.  Also, to be a part of our team, you must turn in your outstanding uniform and or sports equipment checked out to you by the athletic department. 

 

  • Good morning, Scots! It’s time for AVID’s College of the Week. This week, our school is California State University Fullerton. Here are some facts about Fullerton: Fact #1: CSU Fullerton is known for its diversity, with a student body that includes a high percentage of first-generation college students and a strong Hispanic-Serving Institution designation. Fact #2: Fullerton also had over 41,000 students enrolled in the 2023–2024 academic year, making it the largest school in the CSU system. Congratulations to AVID Seniors Christian Medina, Stephanie Giron and Andrea Martinez for being accepted to CSUF!
