Announcements:

 

  • AP students:  It's time to decide if you will take the AP exams in May.  The deadline to pay for the exam is October 25th and it will be here before you know it.  Tests are $99 or $20 if you qualify for a reduced fee.  A $40 non-refundable deposit OR a $20 non-refundable payment (if you qualify) is due by October 25th to avoid a late fee.  Payments can be made at the finance office or the on-line student store at kern.graystep.com.  Don't delay - get 'er done today!

 

  • Students - If you missed picture day last month, picture retake day is this coming Monday, 10/14 in the gym lobby.  You will receive a call slip during the day to report to the gym lobby for your picture.  If you would like to order pictures, please stop by the Activities Office to pick up an order form or use the code EVT9M3WFG at mylifetouch.com.  

 

  • Seniors! The senior yearbook picture is fast approaching! If you have not taken your FREE yearbook picture with Carlos Murillo Photography yet, please do so ASAP!  His number is: 661-332-4170.  The deadline is October 31st and late pictures will not be accepted for the yearbook.

 

  • Scots!  Fall sports season is winding down and we are getting ready for Winter sports!  Make sure you have your ASB sticker to get into all KHSD athletic events for FREE and get amazing discounts throughout the school year.  You MUST have your school ID card to get your sticker, so make sure you have picked it up from the library!

 

  • Congratulations to our 2024 Homecoming Court winners: King is Irene Garcia and Queen is Audrey Allred!  Thank you to everyone who voted and to all our nominees!  Also, congratulations to the Junior class for winning the floats this year! Good job!

 

 

Club News:

 

  • Good morning, Scots! It’s time for AVID’s College of the Week. This week our school is the University of Michigan. Fact 1: The University of Michigan has a wide variety of degrees available with 280+ degree programs as well as 19 schools and colleges. Fact 2: The University of Michigan is also home to 29 NCAA division 1 teams, with over 900+ student athletes. Fact 3: This college offers a 15:1 student-faculty ratio with most classes being under 20 students which can help you connect with your professors.

 

  • Hispanic Heritage Fact of the Day: Colombia has a vibrant music scene. Two of the best-known Colombian musicians are Shakira and Juanes. The Disney movie Encanto also features Columbia's music, food and beautiful scenery. 

 

  • Attention All Students interested in Playing Girls Basketball:  We will have a mandatory meeting this Friday, October 11th, during lunch in the gym lobby.  We will discuss practice times, dates, and important information for current players as well as for those coming out from fall sports.  Bring your lunch and we will start the meeting at 12:15pm.  See you there!  

 

  • Attention Photo club members! We will be having a meeting at lunch this Friday 10/11 in room 7H. If you are not currently a member but interested in joining the Photo Club, please attend this meeting. See you there!
