Announcements:

 

  • Scots - Are you competitive?  Do you want to show off your rock, paper, scissor skills?  This weeklong event is for you!  Starting Monday, Highland will be having a school wide Roshambo (rock, paper, scissors) competition.  Be sure to get your beads from your 2ndperiod teacher on Monday and join the game!!   Be sure to challenge your teachers when you have enough beads! The rules will be explained on Monday.  The winner or winners of the weeklong competition can win prizes such as tickets to Formal, fast passes to the food sale and Highland swag! Good luck!

 

  • Congratulations to our 2024 Homecoming King and Queen nominees!  Queen nominees are: Audrey Allred, Markie Pounds, Breanna Torres, Rachelle Baeza and King nominees are:  Irene Garcia, Johnny Brucker, Santiago Blanco and Andrew Chow. Congratsto our nominees and be sure to vote for the King and Queen during Homecoming week!

Club News:

 

  • Hispanic Heritage fact of the day:  Approximately 7% (6.9) or 406 thousand (406,086) businesses in the United States were Hispanic owned in 2021 according to the census. Also, congrats to Chile for gaining their independence today! 

 

  • Club Advisors and Presidents - If you have not turned in your Annual Club Update, please be sure to do so by the 27th!

 

  • Good morning, Scots! It’s time for AVID’s College of the Week. This week our school is the University of Southern California! Fact 1: USC invests $35 million annually to support community initiatives, serving 40,000 community members. Fact 2: The University of Southern California has attracted $955.6 million in sponsored research to fund studies in biotech, biomedical engineering, cancer, and Alzheimer’s disease. Fact 3: The average USC GPA requirement is 3.83, and while SAT & ACT scores are not required, a higher score on either test can compensate for a lower GPA.

 

  • Come to the first meeting of the Newspaper Club this Wednesday during lunch in Room 8A. We'd love to have you there!

 

  • Do you want to join a new club called LISTOS here at Highland? LISTOS stands for Latinos in Stride to Obtain Success. They’re having a meeting this Thursday during lunch at 11D at the Video Production classroom. If you have any questions, look for Mr. Zavala.
