Announcements:

• Who likes banana splits?  This Wednesday is BYOB Day! - Bring Your Own Banana!  Bring your banana to the quad at lunch and get a banana split on ASB! 

• Seniors! The deadline to get your free senior yearbook picture taken by Carlos Murillo Photography is THIS Friday!!  Pictures taken after this date will NOT make it into the yearbook.  Please call: 661-332-4170 to schedule your appointment as soon as possible!

• Scots- Do you need community service? Washington Middle School is looking for volunteers this Thursday 6:00pm -7:30pm to help with their Zombie run!  See Ms. Barber-Smith with any questions.

• Seniors!!!  The senior panoramic picture will be this THURSDAY at 10:00am!  You will report to your 2^ndperiod class and will come down to the stadium after attendance is taken.  Be sure to wear your Highland gear and show your Highland pride!  Do NOT be late!

• AP Students:  This is the final week to purchase your AP exams.  The deadline is Friday.  After that, no exams will be available for purchase until November 16^that which time the $40 late fee is added to the cost.  So, avoid the late fee (and the line) and purchase your exams today!

• Hey PLAIDtastic Scots! If you have ordered something through StudentVue using your PLAID Points, please come pick it up in the athletics/Activities Office at lunchtime this week! 

• Scots! Lad and Las voting is now open!  What is Lad and Lass you're asking? Lad and Lass is our two top seniors who show PLAID by demonstrating Leadership in Highland activities, Scholarship at Highland (minimum 3.2 GPA) and Service to Highland.  Please vote for one male and one female who demonstrates these qualities using the following QR code or using the following link: https://forms.gle/QWbeM2oHPmtcAcSbA

Club News:

• FCA or Fellowship of Christian Athletes meet’s each Wednesday during lunch in 6F. Please join us and bring your lunch, everyone is invited to attend.

• Hey Scots! The next Newspaper Club meeting will be on Tuesday, October 31 at lunch in room 8A! Swing by! We will be discussing our upcoming articles, doing some activities, and eating some candy! See you there!

• It is the last week for Girls Soccer Tryouts! Practice is Monday 3:30-5, Tuesday 4:30-6, and Wednesday 4:30-6. If you are currently in a different sport, you will have the opportunity to come out when it is finished. If you have any questions, please see Mrs. Winans in the Athletics Office at lunch time. 

• Good morning, Scots!  It’s time for AVID’s College of the Week. This week our school is Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff, Arizona. Fact 1: 46% of NAU students are the first in their family to attend college and are given a $2000 scholarship annually from the First Scholars Program. Fact 2: NAU has more than 190 undergraduate programs. Fact 3: NAU has 15 NCAA Division 1 sports teams. Congratulations to AVID seniors Mariana Hurtado, Aaron Ortiz, Parris Cook, and Damien Medina for being awarded $5,000 NAU annual scholarships.  Also, congrats to Marlen Guzman, Guadalupe Rodriguez, and Victoria Cisneros for being awarded $9000 NAU annual scholarships.  We are proud of all of you!

     Women’s basketball tryouts today October 23rd- 6:30-8:30pm, 24th-4:30-6:30pm, 25th 6:30-8:30pm. Please                  make sure to have a physical and athletic packet turned in before. 

• The Fashion Club will have its next meeting on Wed. during lunch in 8A.
