Announcements:

• Hey, are you a student athlete, looking to play college sports at a Division I or Division II school?  Did you know you MUST have at least a 2.3 Grade Point Average and the GPA must be in the 16 NCAA approved core courses (PE is not one of them) and don’t forget you must graduate on time too!

• Hey Seniors, did you apply to UCLA?  There is a Scholarship opportunity that is on your Counseling Class of 2023 CANVAS Page, or in your outlook.  This is an awesome scholarship just for students who have applied for UCLA and live in Kern County, but it is due soon so check it out or go ask your counselor or Ms. Barrick about it!  ASAP

• Seniors who are of Hispanic Heritage (from Mexico, Central or South America)- the HSF Scholar Program has a scholarship for you. Must be of Must be of Hispanic heritage, a U.S. citizen, permanent legal resident, or DACA

                Minimum of 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale  

                Plan to enroll full-time, four-year university, or graduate school, in the U.S., for the 2023-2024                  academic year,

                Submit the FAFSA or state-based financial aid forms (if applicable)

Club News:

• And it all comes down to Saturday.  Highland’s Mock Trial teams will be competing in their last competition this coming Saturday as the season comes to a close. With both teams earning a 2 – 1 record so far, they are set to do great things on Saturday in their matches against West and Wonderful academy from Delano.  Be sure to wish them good luck!

• Fashion club meets TOMORROW during both lunches. Grab food and come to Ms. Cornford's room, 4P-D, for more sewing 101 practice!"

• YWEL (Young Women Empowered for Leadership) will meet this Friday, January 27, during lunch in room 16E. Please grab your lunch and head on over. Snacks will be provided. See you there!

• Good morning, Scots!  It’s time for AVID’s College of the Week.  This week our school is California State University, Chico. Here are some facts to know about Chico State

                Chico State is located 90 miles north of Sacramento; 174 miles northeast of San Francisco

                It is the 2nd oldest CSU Campus founded in 1887

                One of the largest majors is business administration
