Announcements:

 

  • Scots! Do you need a poster for someone's birthday? Need a poster to ask someone to a dance!?  Want a poster for your favorite teacher??  ASB can help!  We offer poster making services for a small fee. Stop by the Activities/Athletics office to pick up an order form!

 

  • Hey Scots, are you ready for the best event of the school year? Pay attention as the event of the year is about to descend upon you. That’s right! The most epic of battles, the struggle of all struggles, an arduous event and test of true grit and determination….. Lip Sync Battle. Do you have what it takes, to take home the coveted Milli-Vanilli trophy? Then grab your friends, club, team, or crew and show us what you’ve got. Signups will be held on sign up during both 4th and 5th lunch on October 18th through the 20th in front of the WAH. This year’s theme is 70s and 80s, you will need to sign up with who is in your group and who is the point of contact.  Not that it is needed, but FFA will call you out right here right now….. ASB & Drama prepare to not win

 

  • Good morning, Scots!  If you are planning on taking an AP exam this year, now is the time to get your registration fees into the finance office.  The deadline is Nov. 1st – after that time, there will be a late fee of $40 assessed for each exam.  If you have any questions, talk to your AP teacher or your counselor.  This is a great way to get some college credit before you get to college!

 

  • Seniors! Are you interested in attending California State University, Fresno? We will be hosting a Zoom presentation on Monday, October 18th in the library. Please stop by and see Mrs. Verde in the Career Center located in the library to sign-up.

 

 

  • Scots - Do you still have that uniform under your bed?  Maybe a textbook in the trunk of your car?  Be sure to get these items turned in and clear your debt!  Formal season is coming, and you must be debt free to buy your tickets!

 

  • Scots! National School Lunch Week is Oct. 10-Oct.14th Enjoy a delicious lunch and a chance to be entered into the Movie ticket drawing! Your lunch participation is your Entry Ticket!! Winner will be announced on Friday Oct. 14. Hope to see you.

 

Club News:

 

  • Today, we will have our second Project BEST meeting. Project BEST (Black Excellence in Scholarship and Teaching) is a mentoring program for African American male students that: Guides eligible young men through a college preparatory program.                                                           Encourages academic excellence and good attendance throughout high school.                                              Offers enrichment activities/programs.                                                                                                         Acquaints students with educational opportunities.                                                                               Assists with college applications, SAT/ACT, and scholarships.                                                                     Keep an eye out for your call slips! We meet during both lunches in room 16E

  • Good morning, Scots!  It’s time for AVID’s College of the Week.                                                                      This week our school is Grand Canyon University in Phoenix, Arizona.                                                      Fact 1: GCU has 73% acceptance rate and requires a minimum of a 2.8 GPA.                                          Fact 2: The school offers 7 fully equipped fitness centers on campus.                                                Congratulations to the 7 AVID seniors who attended the GCU campus last weekend. They had an awesome time exploring the school and all its features as well as kicking off the basketball season at the Midnight Madness event!           

 

  • Good morning, Senior Scots!  Are you interested in engineering?  What about being in the military?  AVID's Community Voices is pleased to present HHS Alumnus Mike Jungo, project manager for Chevron.  He will be on campus to speak with students about these topics on Tuesday, October 18 during 6th Go to the College and Career Center in the library to sign up.

 

  • The Highland High School "Green & Clean Club" will hold its first meeting on Wednesday, October 12 in Room 16D, immediately after school.  We will discuss our upcoming activities for this year, which include Campus Clean-Up, Community Outreach Projects, Green Projects, Environmental Awareness activities, etc.  Everyone is welcome to join our club and make a difference in our campus and in our community.  See you there!

 

        Highland Scots! Celebrate Día de Hispanidad with the Latinx/Ally Club by dressing in cultural vest-i-dos and            som-brer-os Wednesday the 12th. The ALAS (ALL-US) club will have a meeting Wednesday after school in                Mrs. Cedillo’s room 15E.
