Black History Month began with a seed planted by Carter G. Woodson in 1926 when he and the ASALH launched a “Negro History Week” to bring attention to his mission and help school systems coordinate their focus on the topic of Black History. Woodson chose the second week in February, as it encompassed both Frederick Douglass’ birthday on February 14 and Abraham Lincoln’s birthday on February 12.
“If a race has no history, it has no worthwhile tradition, it becomes a negligible factor in the thought of the world, and it stands in danger of being exterminated,” Carter G. Woodson.
Club News
Overwatch Practice is postponed for the next two week and will resume on Thursday, February 10th. League of Legends Practice and Competitions will continue as scheduled on the Esports website. It is still not too late to join Esports and play LOL or OW for Highland. Stop by 7H and pick up a permissions slip.
