ANNOUNCEMENTS:
  •  2017 Graduation Speech & Graduation Performance
    • Graduation for the Class of 2017 is just weeks away!  Tryouts for those interested in giving a speech and/or performing at this year’s graduation will be held on Wednesday May 17th and Thursday May 18th respectively, at 3:30pm in the WAH.  Those who are interested must sign up for tryouts no later than Monday May 15th at 4:00pm with Ms. Snyder in the Administration office.  Ms. Snyder will have more details at her desk.
  • Friday! Free pizza, games, prizes, and more! Join us at lunch in the gym! You don’t want to miss it! See Jamison, Gibson or Abe for more information!

  • If you are interested in running for next year’s class council, applications will be available starting TODAY in the Activities/Athletics Office in 3G.
  • If you plan on participating in athletics next school year and will be needing an athletic physical please stop by the ATH/ACT office in 3G to sign up for your free physical. Stop by and sign up before all the spots are filled up.
  • The Link Crew application is now open go to tinyurl.com/hhslinkcrew to apply to become a member of Link Crew next year.   What is Link Crew?  Link Crew welcomes freshmen and makes them feel comfortable throughout the first year of their high school experience. Built on the belief that students can help students succeed, Link Crew trains mentors to be Link Crew Leaders and positive role models for Freshmen. We need you to help Link Crew make our school the world’s greatest high school.  Apply today, the deadline is 4/28/17.
  • Hey Seniors:  Just a friendly reminder from your Senior Counselor Ms. Barrick and Seniors Truancy Clerk Ms. Leopold that you have 26 days until your high school career is over. Now is the time to be, in school all day, every day. If you are absent for any reason, you have 3 days to get it cleared.

  • Was your library book due YESTERDAY? Make sure to turn it in or renew it TODAY to avoid late fees! Don't forget...Open Mic Poetry in the library this Friday. Bring your lunch!
  • Seniors – If you have not yet ordered your cap and gown yet, please contact Herff Jones as soon as possible!  Ordering is only available at their office, but order forms are available in the Activities/Athletics Office.  All cap and gowns will be delivered at the end of May.

CAREER CENTER NEWS:
  • SENIORS – the Academic Signing Ceremony has been moved to Monday, May 8th at 2:30 in the Gym.  Therefore, the deadline to submit you #1 choice of 4-year college or university has been extended to Friday, April 28th.
  • Senior Awards will be Monday, May 15th so if you have received any scholarships please inform Ms. Courtis so you and your parents can be invited to attend.  Please note – if you are receiving CSF or NHS you will be invited to attend.

FROM THE DEAN’s OFFICE:
  • Students – Candy sales are not allowed on campus and may only be sold off campus. Please help us continue to allow candy sales as a fundraiser by following these guidelines!

  • Attention Students – reminder that when you are tardy to first period 2 or more times in one week you will be assigned after school detention. Students who fail to complete detention are assigned in school suspension. Please make every effort to be in every class, on time, every day.

  • Attention students
    1. Highland High School will no longer accept or allow food deliveries and persons delivering food will be turned away.
    2. The dirt area across from the student parking lot on Claymore Ave. is posted as no parking during the school day. Anyone who parks in this area during the posted no parking times is subject to a parking citation.
  • Any person who tampers with or breaks a fire alarm or fire protection equipment, triggers a false fire alarm, or makes a false report of a fire AND does so knowingly and maliciously can be criminally prosecuted under California Penal Code 148.4 PC.  Students who are found guilty of making a false fire alarm are subject to administrative discipline, a fine of up to $1000, and/or possible imprisonment.
  • Reminder –Attention Students – It is important for you to be on time to each period, every day. Remember that when you are marked late to first period 2 or more times in a week, you will be assigned after school detention. Also, expect more tardy sweeps starting today. The best way to avoid being assigned after school detention is to be on time to class.
  • This is a reminder to all students that only Highland hats, beanies, and head coverings that are allowed on campus. Non-Highland hats, beanies, and head coverings are subject to confiscation and repeat offenders may be subject to further disciplinary action.
