ANNOUNCEMENTS:
  • Did you know that you can buy pens, mechanical pencils, gel pens, and HHS logo pencils in the Library for as little as 25¢? Come to the Library and “check it out!”
  • Spring Fest is just around the corner! Spring Fest shirts are NOW on sale for $15 in the Finance Office. Quantities are limited, so don’t miss out!!
  • Congratulations to Highland's Parliamentary Procedure and debate team for competing at the sectional contest at Foothill. The novice team placed fourth and the advanced team placed second. We wish them luck as they move onto regionals on March 31st at the College of Sequoias!
  • Scots! Powder Puff is March 31st!!  If you are a Junior or Senior and would like to play, coach or cheer for this game, please stop by the Activities Office to pick up an application!  Shirts are available for purchase through the Finance Office for $20.  Tickets for the game will go on sale next week!
  • Do you want to help continue to make Highland the greatest high school on earth?  Plan activities for the school?  Want to be a leader on campus? ASB applications will be available NEXT WEEK for ASB elections!!   Stop by the Activities office NEXT WEEK to pick one up!
  • FCA. Fellowship of Christian Athletes, invites everyone to Abe’s Room in 4I this Friday. Grab your lunch and come fellowship with us! Cannot wait to see you then.
  • Attention students
    1. Highland High School will no longer accept or allow food deliveries and persons delivering food will be turned away.
    2. The dirt area across from the student parking lot on Claymore Ave. is posted as no parking during the school day. Anyone who parks in this area during the posted no parking times is subject to a parking citation.
  • ATTENTION SENIORS!!!! It’s time to PLAID UP and show your SCOTS PRIDE!!!!   On Wednesday, March 22, ALL seniors will be taking the California Science Test in the gym. Testing time will be sent to you on Tuesday, March 21st . ALL seniors who test on March 22nd  will be entered into a raffle. We are raffling a prom ticket, Highland gear, and student store certificates. See Mrs. Ramos if you have any questions.
  • Seniors: If you received an overdue notice from your English teacher, PLEASE turn in your books and pay your fees ASAP!
  • Attention junior and senior boys, Big Scot is around the corner and we want you to show us what you got! You’ll be put through interview questions, talent and much more! The winner will receive two free prom tickets so this is an event you don’t want to miss out on! Sign-ups will start TODAY down by the cafeteria and will continue through next Friday the 17th.
  • Hey there, guys and Gidgets – presale tickets for Highland High School’s hit musical “Hairspray!” The cast and crew have worked very hard to put on a great show for you, and you won’t want to miss out! Presale tickets are only $5, and you can see Mr. Thompson in 14-F or stop by the finance office starting TODAY! After March 15th, general tickets are $10 and student tickets are $7. Don’t miss out on a great deal! Hairspray opens March 16th and plays the whole weekend, until March 18th!
  • Hey Highland!  Do you have any siblings?  If so, there is no better way to show them off than in the yearbook.  Come out Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday at lunch or after school to have your picture taken in room 3E.
  • The deadline to pay for any AP Tests is March 17th.  Don’t wait until the last minute.  Remember to complete the Google Form first and then pay in the finance office.  If you have any questions you can see Mrs. Sweet in 4PC or Mrs. Memering in the Finance Office!
  • Students:  The Highland High French Club invites you to "BE OUR GUEST" for a special gathering at the Maya Cinemas.  Buy your discounted ticket for the new Disney movie Beauty and the Beast for March 18th at 1215pm.  The cost is only $7 per person!  Let's fill up the theater with Highland High students and family and show how our PRIDE in the PLAID!  Just in case you're wondering...the movie will be in ENGLISH!   Pay at the finance office and the last day to purchase a ticket to this event is March 10th.  If you have any questions, please see Ms. DeLateur in room 7C.

  • Do you ever wish you had a Rockin’ Resume to attach to apps for jobs, internships or scholarships?  Then sign-up today for a Resume Workshop coming up on March 15th during 5th period in the Career Center.
  • ATTENTION SCOTS - TODAY (March 15th) there will be a Vocational Career Fair near ASB Quad during LUNCH.  Come and visit with Bakersfield Adult School, BC, all branches of the Military, Bakersfield Barber College and you can even look inside a real-live Hall Ambulance.  Join the fun!!

FROM THE DEAN’s OFFICE:
  • Any person who tampers with or breaks a fire alarm or fire protection equipment, triggers a false fire alarm, or makes a false report of a fire AND does so knowingly and maliciously can be criminally prosecuted under California Penal Code 148.4 PC.  Students who are found guilty of making a false fire alarm are subject to administrative discipline, a fine of up to $1000, and/or possible imprisonment.
  • Reminder –Attention Students – It is important for you to be on time to each period, every day. Remember that when you are marked late to first period 2 or more times in a week, you will be assigned after school detention. Also, expect more tardy sweeps starting today. The best way to avoid being assigned after school detention is to be on time to class.
  • This is a reminder to all students that only Highland hats, beanies, and head coverings that are allowed on campus. Non-Highland hats, beanies, and head coverings are subject to confiscation and repeat offenders may be subject to further disciplinary action.
