Announcements:

• Today we remember those who lost their lives in the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001, and honor the first responders who courageously ran toward danger to help others, as well as those who served their communities in the days and years that followed. We will never forget.

• Students and Staff! Did you know you can acknowledge staff members for showing PLAID and give them PLAID points?  Check out the flyer your teacher should have posted for the QR code to scan.  Give your teachers and staff points for showing PLAID - Maybe they dressed up for the dress up days, went out of the way to help you with something or helped the class accomplish something new

• Hey Seniors! If you would like to participate in the production of our homecoming float and be part of the game night routine, come discuss ideas in Mrs. Lindsey's room in 6D during lunch Tuesday, 9/15.

• Seniors! Class T-shirt preorders are almost here! Preorders will be open 9/15–9/29. To order your shirt: Head to the Finance Window to pay for your T-shirt, bring your receipt to Mrs. Lindsey’s room (6D) and give Mrs. Lindsey your receipt and shirt size to complete your preorder! Don’t miss out and show your Senior Class pride!

• Auditions for Mock Trial are happening now.  Stop by Mrs. Procell's room (4G) to pick up your script and information.  It's time to get the team ready to take on the case of Nova Martz.  Did Nova intentionally start a high-speed race that resulted in grave bodily injury?  Or was Nova set up by a street racing gang?  Was Nova part of the street racing gang?  Join the team that gets to decide.

• Juniors - Sign-ups for the PSAT are still available!  $10 to the finance office by September 22nd.  Don't delay!  Have questions about the PSAT?  See your counselor ASAP!

• Seniors - Highland's In-School SAT will be given on Tuesday, October 30^th,but you must be registered by September 22nd.  To register, bring your payment of $33 to the finance office.  Talk to Ms. Yubeta in the Career Center about a fee waiver for the weekend SAT - there are no fee waivers for the In-School SAT.  Have questions about the SAT?  See your counselor ASAP!

• AP Students - If you plan on taking the AP exam in May, payment is due by October 23rd.  Those qualified for a fee waiver MUST be on the free/reduced lunch list.  Those applications are found in the front office, in the Career Center, on-line, or your counselor can point you in the right direction.  These usually take the district office a week to process, so get that done immediately!!!!

• Our fall rally is quickly approaching starting with our dress up week next week! The theme is Scotty’s Sound fest starting with Monday Country Day. Come in your cowboy boots and cowgirl hats. Tuesday Hip Hop Day bring out your favorite jersey and backwards hat. Wednesday ignites your dark side with Alternative Rock Day. Come dressed in dark colors and band tees. Thursday is Pop Day with 2016 inspired looks, sequins, and bright colors. Friday is our Rally Day, freshmen come in yellow, sophomores in red, juniors in black, and seniors in blue. We can’t wait for new week and our first rally back! Don't forget to participate and dress up for all the days!

• Girls' Soccer Training begins on Wednesday, 9/16 at 4:15pm. Meet outside the Gym area near the Trainer's office. 

• Red Cross Club is having a meeting this Friday in 14H at lunch. It’s not too late to donate clothing for homeless/struggling veterans in Kern County. Please bring your donations to Mrs. Martinez’ room.
