Announcements:

 

  • Black History Month, is celebrated in February in the US and Canada, originated in 1926 as "Negro History Week" by historian Carter G. Woodson to highlight Black contributions. It was expanded to a month in 1976. February was chosen to honor the birthdays of Abraham Lincoln and Frederick Douglass.

 

  • Hey Scots! If you get a call slip for a 3.8+ GPA from last semester, don't forget to stop by the La Rosa cart in the quad at lunch for a sweet treat on Friday 2/13! You must have the call slip to redeem for a La Rosa bar.

 

  • Love doesn't pay the bills, come and find a career Friday Feb 13th during lunch in the gym to learn about various careers from professionals in the community.

 

  • AP Students: The final deadline is drawing near.  If you have now decided to take an AP test, your payment must be received in the finance office by Friday, February 20thwith the $40 late fee.  AP Government students do NOT have to pay the late fee.  If you made a down payment on your AP tests in November, then the remaining balance is also due by February 20th, or your tests will be canceled.  If you have any questions about AP tests, talk to your counselor or Mrs. Procell in room 4G.

 

  • Seniors! If you haven't purchased your Grad Night ticket yet, time is running out! Tickets are $145 for Universal Studios and are available for purchase in the Finance Office.  You must get as permission slip from the Activities Office first and turn it in when purchasing your ticket.  The deadline to purchase tickets is March 13th!

 

 

Club News:

 

  • Scots! There will be an Art Club meeting this Friday at lunch in 8A.

 

  • Love is in the air SCOTS! The highland Red Cross and Paws 4 a Cause are hosting our puppy love show 2/18. Where Marley Mutt's is sponsoring by bringing in young puppies of Kern County's shelter animals, that promote second chances to abandoned dogs. If you want to bring a Paw-sitive community, please donate blankets, dog food/treats, and toys to room 14H. Lasting from 2/11-2/18. Yip Yip Hooray!

 

  • Calling All Artists!!! The Black Student Union is holding an art competition in February in honor of Black History Month. You can submit your best piece of art in any medium with the topic of UNITY to Ms. Moore (4E) or Ms. Dunkel (Office). The BSU Council will vote for the top

three contenders, and the counselors will vote on the winner. The winner will receive a $30 gift card!
