Alpha Delta Kappa -Theta Chapter Applicant must excel in the areas of academics, leadership, citizenship, and service to others. A cash award of five hundred dollars and a trophy will be presented to two senior girls graduating this spring from the Kern High School District. Only graduates from junior high or middle schools from the Bakersfield City School District can apply. Deadline 3/27/20

Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Kappa Omega Chapter Book Scholarship All Kern County African-American seniors may apply for a book scholarship to help begin their college education. A completed application, personal essay and (2) sealed letters of recommendation are required. An official transcript must be submitted by the postmarked deadline.

Asian Pacific Fund provides college scholarships to more than 60 students on an annual basis. Many of the scholarships are designated for Asian students with financial need, ranging from $1,000 to $20,000 each.  To apply please visit www.asianpacificfund.org/scholarships. Deadline 3/2/20

Assistance League Bakersfield Scholarship Applicant must be entering a two year community college or four year college/university. Student must have a 3.0 GPA, financial need, community involvement and be a resident of Kern County, FAFSA must be completed. The application must be completed and submitted with all required documentation and recommendations. Deadline 3/20/20

Association of California School Administrators To qualify for this scholarship at least one of the parents of the applying student must be an ACSA member. Forty-three $1,000 First Year scholarships will be awarded; fourteen shall be awarded based primarily on financial need. Deadline is 02/07/20.

Augustine Family Scholarship the Augustine Family Scholarship is a $1,000 per year financial need-based scholarship available for students from Kern County who are enrolled in a 4-year college/university. The scholarship is meant to support highly-motivated students who may have trouble paying for college/university on their own. The scholarship is renewable each year the student is in a four year program. Students must come from a low-income living situation. 

Bakersfield Chinese Women's Club Applicants must be of Chinese descent, complete application, have a 3.0GPA or higher and include a 200 word essay. Extracurricular activities, community service and family needs will be considered. Student must be accepted by an accredited college/university. 

Bakersfield College Bakersfield College has nearly 300 unique scholarships available from merit to need-based, covering all majors, with GPA minimums starting at 2.0. Learn more about applying at www.bakersfieldcollege.edu/apply4money  Deadline is 02/01/20.  

Budd Ray Memorial Scholarship Applicant must be the child or grandchild of a veteran or active duty military member. Active Duty ID card, or other acceptable proof of military service, must be presented at the time of interview. 

CAA Youth Scholarship Program Student must have a parent or guardian employed full-time by Law Enforcement, Fire Department, Paramedic, or EMT. Applicant must be a graduating senior who will receive a diploma from an accredited high school, located in California. Applicants must be accepted for admission to an accredited four-year college or university matriculating the following year. Deadline 4/10/20.

California Association of Wine Grape Growers Foundation Students must have a parent or guardian employed by a CA vineyard during the 2018-2019 wine growing season to apply. Be graduating and planning to attend a University of CA, CSU or a community college. For students to be eligible and remain eligible for this scholarship, you must enroll in 12 or more units per semester with satisfactory grades while attending college. Deadline is 03/08/20.  

California School Employees Association the CSEA Scholarship Award Program provides financial assistance to dependent children and spouses of CSEA members, helping many continue their education after high school and in a college or vocational school. Forty-three, $1,000 First year scholarships will be awarded: fourteen shall be awarded based primarily on financial need. Five, $1,000 Community College Scholarships and five, $1,000 College/Vocational scholarships will be awarded. 

California School Employees Association Kern High Chapter #81 Scholarship One parent or guardian of the applicant must be a member in good standing with CSEA Chapter #81 for at least one year. Applicant must be planning on attending college/trade or vocational school as a full time student. Have had a minimum GPA of 3.0 in grade 10, 11 and the 1st semester of 12th. Submitted application with a GPA of less than 3.0 may be considered for a book allowance. Submitted applications with a GPA of less than 3.0 may be considered for a Book Allowance. 

California State University, Bakersfield (CSUB) General Scholarship for freshman. Learn more about applying at https://csub.academicworks.com/.  

 California Table Grape Agricultural Scholarship To be eligible, you must be a 2020 graduate residing in the California San Joaquin valley table grape growing region. You must be planning to pursue a four-year undergraduate degree in a field of study pertinent to table grapes. Examples include soil science, plant pathology, entomology, sustainable agriculture and food systems, genetics and plant biology, agricultural education, agricultural communications, agricultural business, agricultural marketing, horticulture and crop science, botany and plant pathology, agricultural policy, international marketing, food science, and technology. 

 

 

 

California Table Grape Field Worker Scholarship To be eligible, you must have had a parent or a legal guardian be employed as a field worker in a California table grape vineyard during the 2019 season or plan to be employed during the 2020 season. Applicants must be high school seniors graduating in 2020, who plan to attend community or junior college in California. A completed application, transcript, essay, list of honors or awards and two letters of recommendation are required.  Up to three $3,500 scholarships are available.  

 California Table Grape Field Worker Scholarship To be eligible, you must have had a parent or a legal guardian be employed as a field worker in a California table grape vineyard during the 2019 season or plan to be employed during the 2020 season. Applicants must be high school seniors graduating in 2020, who plan to attend four-year universities or colleges in California. Up to three $20,000 scholarships are available. 

California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) District 6 Scholarship is pleased to offer a total of six scholarships ranging up to $2,000. Four Caltrans District 6/Central Region Transportation Scholarships are available to high school students who will pursue a career in a transportation related filed. Applicants will have the opportunity to be selected for a $1,000 or a $2,000 scholarship. Two Caltrans District 6/Region Employee Family Scholarships are available to high school students related to a current, former, or retired Caltrans District 6 employee who will pursue a career in a transportation related field. Applicants will have the opportunity to be selected for a $1,000 or a $2,000 scholarship. Deadline 3/27/20

Chief Steve Alvidrez Criminal Justice Career Scholarship This Foundation will award merit scholarships to students pursuing a career in criminal justice. Applicants must be a U.S. citizen, be enrolled as a full-time student (minimum 12 units) and have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5 in high school. The following application materials are required: completed application form, essay (500 words or less) resume listing your education/experience and your high school transcript.  

Contreras Scholarship Foundation 2019 This scholarship is a one-time award offering educational assistance for graduating seniors. GPA must be between a 2.5 - 3.5 no higher. Student must have financial need (low income).  A one page essay, transcript and letters of recommendation are required. 

Corti Family Agricultural Fund Scholarship Applicant must plan to major in Agricultural or an Agriculture-related field. (Forestry or an Agriculture Education majors are not eligible.) Preference for students interested in raising stock, farming, and soil conservation. Demonstration of academic performance, leadership, participation in school and community activities, and work experience is desired. Apply online at www.csascholars.org/corti. Deadline 3/16/20

Dale Scott & Co. Scholarship Applicant must be a graduating female student pursuing studies in either finance or political science. The applicant must submit the application form, transcript, and statement regarding extra-curricular activities, self-statement of goals and two letters of recommendation. Deadline: 3/12/20

Darden Architects, Inc. Graduating senior must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher, provide two letters of recommendation and official transcripts. The applicant must have been accepted to and intend to enroll full-time in the California Polytechnic State University, SLO, Architecture program. A select number of applicants may be selected for oral interviews. 

 

Democratic Women of Kern Scholarship The scholarship committee is granting a $500 scholarship to a graduating female senior who is either a registered Democrat or who has at least one parent or legal guardian who is a registered Democrat and will be enrolling in an accredited College or Trade school in the fall of 2019. Applicant must have a GPA of 2.5 or above. 

Harvey and Laura Brockmeyer Kiwanis Scholarship Applicant must have been a member of a Future Farmer Chapter, Key Club of a County High School or the child or grandchild of a Kern County Kiwanian. Must have a minimum GPA of 2.5.  Applicants will be evaluated on: statement of goals, leadership to school and community, financial statement and counselor/teacher evaluation. Scholarship award is $4,000: $1,000 a year for four years. 

Harvey L. Hall/Hall Ambulance Service, Inc. 2020 Medical Scholarship Applicant must have a minimum of a 3.0 GPA for a $250 scholarship. Must be a resident of Kern County and planning on attending either a Junior College or State University in 2019-2020. Must be enrolling in a medical field major, paramedic, EMT, nurse, physician, dentist or hygienist. A 300 word essay indicating your educational plans and career goals is required.

Highland High School APS Booster Hall of Fame Scholarship This year the HHS APS Booster Club will award right $1000 scholarships to graduating seniors of Highland’s class of 2020 who possess the following qualifications. Currently hold a minimum 3.2 GPA, plan to attend a community college or 4-year college/university in the fall of 2020 and have a regularly participated in school and community activities over the past 4 years. Application are located in the HHS Career Center. Deadline: 3/27/20 

Howard & Mamie Nichols Scholarship Applicants must be a graduating senior of a high school within Kern County, have adequate, scholastic or other accomplishments, and demonstrate traits of good character, motivation and seriousness of purpose. Plan to attend full-time an accredited two-year or four-year College, university, technical, trade, or professional school located in the U.S. Apply online at www.csascholars.org/nichols Deadline 3/16/20

India Association of San Joaquin Valley Merit Scholarship Applicant must be of Indian Origin with IASJV family membership for the last 2 years. A brief resume including background, educational and other achievements should be included. 

India Association of San Joaquin Valley Financial Aid Scholarship Applicant must be of Indian Origin and be willing to send a copy of your College acceptance letter in by May 5th. If requested, the applicant also agrees to appear for an interview before the scholarship committee. 

Italian Catholic Federation Applicant must be a Roman Catholic of Italian descent who has a cumulative GPA of at least 3.2. You may also qualify if either Roman Catholic parent, guardian or grandparent is a member of the Italian Catholic Federation. Deadline 3/15/20 

John A. Bidart, Sr. Memorial Scholarship Applicant must be a graduating senior of the Kern High School District who have realized a high degree of academic achievement in his or her school studies; and who during his or her high school career has demonstrated a high level of ambition, industry, and the ability to set and achieve goals; and has demonstrated the requisite level of financial need in connection with the pursuit of a college or other post-secondary school education. Deadline: 3/12/20

 

Juan Arrache, Jr. Memorial Trust Fund Applicant must be a Kern County High School senior in good standing. A type-written essay between five and seven hundred fifty works on the subject of honesty, integrity and courage. The words must come from the heart. Award amount is $2,000 to be used any way the winner wishes. 

Kern Association of Educational Office Professionals Applicant must intend to continue his/her education in the field of business administration or education. Must have a 2.0 GPA or better in high school. The 2018-19 scholarship is valued at $1,000. More than one scholarship may be awarded. This scholarship is a "tuition-only" scholarship. 

Kern Community Foundation Submit one application, and they do the rest! Since 2015, almost 350 awards have been made to Kern County seniors, totaling over $7,000,000! Ranging from $500 to $5,000! Apply online at kernfoundation.org to start your application. 

Kern High School Teachers for Student Achievement is offering multiple $500 scholarships to KHSD seniors planning to attend a university, college or vocational school. Scholarships are awarded based on financial need and academic promise. Information about document requirements can be found at https://kernhighscholarships.com/2020-scholarship-application/

Laurelglen Elementary School Parent Club Scholarship Applicant must have attended Laurelglen Elementary School for at least their sixth-grade year. Two $500 scholarships will be awarded to graduating high school seniors who plan to continue their education. 

Maya Cinemas Make a Difference Scholarship 2020 Applicants who have demonstrated a high level of participation in extracurricular activities to improve the positive outcomes of others in his/her community through volunteerism, mentoring and the embodiment of the characteristics of service, compassion and leadership. The scholarship committee will also review the quality of letters of recommendation, essay and attention to detail in the application. 

McGregor Music Scholarship Applicant must be a KHSD student who has had a major interest in the field of music and plans to study music in college. Transcript, statement regarding extra-curricular activities, self-statement of goals and letters of recommendation are required.  Deadline: 3/12/20

Moose Scholarship Applicant must have a 3.25 GPA or higher and show not only excellence in academics, but have also demonstrated leadership skills that involve extra-curricular activities, community service, volunteerism, and have an innate desire to help others. Award amount is $1,000. 

Nelson Family & 999 Foundations - Officer David Nelson Memorial Scholarship Applicants must have applied for admission to an accredited college of university to pursue a two or four year degree in a Public Service field (law enforcement, fire, etc.) of study. Applicants must also provide a one page essay on why they have chosen Public Service as a career and why it is important to them, their community and society. Turn in completed application to Ms. Hayes. 

Omni Family Health Scholarship Applicant must be a current year high school graduate, with a cumulative 3.5 or higher GPA. Planning on majoring in the healthcare profession. Sealed letters of recommendation from at least three teachers or administrators who are familiar with the student and his/her character are required. Ten awards or $1,000 (maximum) will be distributed per recipient per year.  

P.E.O. Chapter HY P.E.O. is a Philanthropic Educational Organization celebrating the advancement and education of women through the aid of scholarships. P.E.O. is one of the oldest women's organizations in North American. Requirements are as follows: financial need, GPA of 3.5 or above, community, extracurricular school activities, and/or work experience, one letter of recommendation from a teacher or counselor and a one-page essay on how you feel you have made a positive impact on another individual. 

PWNGK Professional Women's Network Group of Kern Patricia Cheadle, a lifelong resident of KC, was known for her commitment to helping all to realize their value and potential within. This memorial scholarship is being offered to students who have secured acceptance in trade or collegiate training programs, to pursue their educational dreams. This is an online application. Robert Miller Scholarship for Viticulture and Enology Applicant must be planning to major or are majoring in viticulture or enology at either Alan Hancock Community College or Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo. Each year either a $500 (Community College) or a $1,000 (4-yr. College) scholarship will be awarded. Deadline is 03/08/20.

San Joaquin Valley (SJV) Charter of the Society of Petroleum Engineers Applicant must be pursuing a degree in a petroleum-related field (any branch of engineering, environmental or earth sciences). Awarded candidates will receive up to $5,000 depending on academic achievement and overall strength of the applicant pool. 

Sara Takii Scholarship Bakersfield Republican Women, Federated Two scholarships of $1,000 each are designed for female students who will, or have graduated from a high school in Kern County. Student must be female, a U.S. citizen, and a registered or pre-registered Republican. Two letters of recommendation, including one teacher and one non-family member with phone numbers of authors for follow-up. An official transcript, current photograph and the ability to interview in person or live online if needed. Deadline is 04/01/20.

Student-View Scholarship Program The 2020 Student-View Scholarship Program is offering $12,000 worth of scholarships to high school seniors who plan to attend a four-year college, community/junior College or career school. The program includes: one &5,000 scholarship, two $1,000 scholarships and ten $500 scholarships. It’s quick and easy to apply. No minimum SAT/ACT score or grade point average. No essay required. No lengthy application forms. No application fees. Simply log on to www.student-view.com and complete a 15-20 minute application survey about colleges in your area. Sun Pacific - Growers and Shippers of Quality Fruits & Vegetables Dependents of full-time Sun Pacific employees, graduating from high school in 2019 are eligible to apply for a scholarship to assist in their pursuit of a college education. There are a total of five scholarships that will be awarded this year. 

The Patricia Jean Foundation Memorial Scholarship This scholarship will be awarded to ten local seniors. A 2.5 GPA along with 50 documented hours of community service during high school is required. Award amount is $2,000. 

Thelma Rae Self Music Scholarship Students will be chosen on the basis of need and musical promise. A self-statement of goals, two letters of recommendation (must include music teacher and counselor or administrator) and a copy of your transcript. Award amount is approximately $1,000.  Deadline: 3/12/20

Thomas Midnight Pewitt Memorial Scholarship The purpose of this scholarship is to encourage High School Seniors who have been involved in sports and agriculture to continue with their education. Students must demonstrate good moral character and a commitment to community service. Award amount is $1,000. 

W.E. Drury Scholarship Applicants must be enrolled in either a four-year bachelor’s degree program in a college or university or a two-year associate of arts degree program in a community college. Also, recipient must maintain a 3.0 grade point average. Deadline: 3/12/20

Woman's Club of Bakersfield Scholarship award is based upon having a cumulative 3.0 GPA and a maximum cumulative GPA of 4.0 NO EXCEPTIONS, community and volunteer service, instructor/faculty recommendation, career goals and objectives. Applicant must be a resident of Kern County and be a citizen of the United States. Award amount is $1,000 renewable. Deadline is 03/02/20.

2020 California Chapter Women in Mining Scholarship Women in Mining, California Chapter, seeks scholarship candidates who possess a commitment to obtain an education leading to a degree through a course of study related to mining, geology, engineering or environmental studies. Five awards in the amount of $2,500 each will be awarded. 

2020 Caltrans District 6/Central Region Employee Family Scholarship This scholarship is for a student entering college or a university who plans on majoring in a transportation related field and are related to a current, former, or retired Caltrans District 6 employee. Must possess a GPA of 2.5 or better. Award amount is a $1,000 or $2,000 scholarship. 

2020 Caltrans District 6/Central Region Applicant must be entering college or a university and plan on majoring in a transportation related field: Accounting, Anthropology, Archaeology, Animal or Plant Biology, Business Administration, Communications, Construction, Electrical, Engineering, Environmental Science, Equipment Operations, Graphic Design, Human Resource, Information Technology, Landscape Architecture, Legal, Planning, Project Management, Real Estate, Surveying. Must possess a GPA of 2.5 or better. Award amount is a $1,000 or a $2,000 scholarship. 

2020 Lincoln Day Essay Essay must be no longer than 500 words. Pick a current issue that has either a local/national impact and explain how Abraham Lincoln would deal with the issue today. First, second, and third place winners will be presented with scholarships of $2,000, $1,000 and $750 at the annual Kern County Lincoln Day Dinner.
