Sports for the Week of May 29, 2017:
 
Highland is on a Final Exam Schedule for Wednesday, Thursday and Friday (5/31 - 6/2). Students will be dismissed at 12:44 each day.

ANNOUNCEMENTS:
  • If you haven’t picked up your yearbook, you may pick it up in room 3E.

  • If you’d like to purchase a yearbook, there are a few left for sale in room 3E, $95 cash only.

  • Students and Staff! Come by the Student Store and checkout our selection of HHS Vintage shirts for $1 on up! You don’t want to miss these great deals!

  • Seniors – If you did not pick up your cap and gowns yet, please come by the Activities/Athletics Office before school, lunch or after school to pick them up before Wednesday!

  • Prom pictures are now available in the ACT/ATH office in 3G. You may pick them up before school, during lunch or after school.

  • If you received an athletic award or took formal pictures and you haven’t picked them up yet stop by 3G in the ACT/ATH office to pick them up before the school year is out.

  • Seniors: You MUST turn in all books and pay all fines BEFORE your yellow clearance card will be signed!

    From the Library:
    • If you have a library book, it’s overdue! Please turn it in ASAP.
    • Do you still have textbooks from last year? The year before? Clean your room and bring them in to the library!
  • Attention ladies, who enjoy playing volleyball … Spring ball has started and will be at 3:30 in the gym every day. Practices only last 1 week so come check it out soon and see if you would like to join the 3 time, league champion volleyball program. Come be a part of a new Lady Scots tradition.
  • Your HHS necklaces are here! Get your very own Highland High Kukui (koo-koo-ee) nut necklaces for only $20. For seniors, this would be a great keepsake to remember those wonderful HHS memories, and it would be a great way to show school spirit next year for underclassmen. Wear that green and blue with pride! BUT there are only a limited supply so don’t be left out. Booths will be set up by the office at lunch, starting Monday of next week, until we sale out. Be the first to get your HHS Kukui necklace!

  • Attention Students: The finance office will no longer be accepting checks. Cash only.
  • Seniors - Senior Bundles are on sale NOW in the finance office.  The cost is $30.  You will get a senior class tee shirt, a ticket to the senior breakfast and a ticket to the senior sunset.  All three items must be purchased together.  Please see Ms. DeLateur in room 7C if you have any questions.
  • Hey Seniors:  Just a friendly reminder from your Senior Counselor Ms. Barrick and Seniors Truancy Clerk Ms. Leopold that you have 2 days until your high school career is over. Now is the time to be, in school all day, every day. If you are absent for any reason, you have 3 days to get it cleared.

  • Summer volunteer opportunities available at local hospitals:  San Joaquin Valley Hospital and Mercy Hospitals.  Applications available in the Career Center.

 

You can find info sheets and applications in the Career Center!  The Most Recent Senior Scots Bulletin is available now in Gov/Econ classes, the Career Center or on HHS website:  www.highland.kernhigh.org/career-center/.  This is your guide to staying on track with college apps, financial aid deadlines and upcoming workshops.  Check it out and be sure to visit Ms. Courtis in the Career Center’s new location, Room 2A next to the Library.  This is your time!!
 
FROM THE DEAN’s OFFICE:
  • Students – Candy sales are not allowed on campus and may only be sold off campus. Please help us continue to allow candy sales as a fundraiser by following these guidelines!

  • Attention Students – reminder that when you are tardy to first period 2 or more times in one week you will be assigned after school detention. Students who fail to complete detention are assigned in school suspension. Please make every effort to be in every class, on time, every day.

  • Attention students
    1. Highland High School will no longer accept or allow food deliveries and persons delivering food will be turned away.
    2. The dirt area across from the student parking lot on Claymore Ave. is posted as no parking during the school day. Anyone who parks in this area during the posted no parking times is subject to a parking citation.
  • Any person who tampers with or breaks a fire alarm or fire protection equipment, triggers a false fire alarm, or makes a false report of a fire AND does so knowingly and maliciously can be criminally prosecuted under California Penal Code 148.4 PC.  Students who are found guilty of making a false fire alarm are subject to administrative discipline, a fine of up to $1000, and/or possible imprisonment.
  • Reminder –Attention Students – It is important for you to be on time to each period, every day. Remember that when you are marked late to first period 2 or more times in a week, you will be assigned after school detention. Also, expect more tardy sweeps starting today. The best way to avoid being assigned after school detention is to be on time to class.
  • This is a reminder to all students that only Highland hats, beanies, and head coverings that are allowed on campus. Non-Highland hats, beanies, and head coverings are subject to confiscation and repeat offenders may be subject to further disciplinary action.
