ANNOUNCEMENTS:
  • Flash sell for the prom is Wednesday, April 5th That day only, bids will be $40 instead of $50.  You must have an ID to purchase your bid and if you are taking a guest from another school, all your paperwork clearing them through the Dean must be in order.  If you are going to prom, you must have the following to buy your bid:  all debts cleared, signed permission slip and a current HHS ID card.  The Dean's Office requires at least 3 days for guest forms to be approved.  Please plan accordingly!

  • If you are in need of a dress for Prom, please stop by the Activities/Athletics Office to see our selection of new and gently used FREE dresses!!

  • Students – Candy sales are not allowed on campus and may only be sold off campus. Please help us continue to allow candy sales as a fundraiser by following these guidelines!

  • Attention Students – reminder that when you are tardy to first period 2 or more times in one week you will be assigned after school detention. Students who fail to complete detention are assigned in school suspension. Please make every effort to be in every class, on time, every day.

  • Caught Being PLAID winners are:

    Raul Sanchez, Isaiah Maese, Elijah Chavz, Mikayla Hveem, Esmeralda Ochoa, Jazzel Soto, Louie Salas, Alejandra Lopez, Kristin LeValley and Ashley Duran. Pick up your prize with Mrs. Thompson in the Dean’s Office.    

  • The Library Club presents “Open-Mic Poetry” in the Library every Friday in April! Read your own poem or someone else’s. Start writing NOW!
  • Due to Friday’s 2 hour early out, Powder Puff will now start at 5:00pm. Gates will open at 4:30pm.  You can pre-purchase your ticket from any ASB member or football player for $3, otherwise tickets are $5 at the door!  Attn: Juniors & Seniors:  Powder Puff is coming.   Shirts are available for purchase through the Finance Office for $20.  Tickets for the game are on sale now in the Finance Office!
  • Scots - Spring Fest is next week!  Dress up days include: 'Merica Monday, Tailgate Tuesday, Wild Wednesday, Fun in the Sun Thursday and Fluorescent Friday. Get a dress up flyer from your 2nd period teacher. We will also have a food sale on Thursday and a rally on Friday! What a great way to get ready for Spring Break!

  • The first annual 3 on 3 basketball tournament will be Next Wednesday April 5 from 6 to 8 pm.  If you want to play, grab 2 other teammates and see Ms. Peters before it’s too late!

  • Seniors – If you have not yet ordered your cap and gown yet, please contact Herff Jones as soon as possible!  Ordering is only available at their office, but order forms are available in the Activities/Athletics Office.  All cap and gowns will be delivered at the end of May.

  • FCA TODAY in ABE’s room, 4i! Everyone is welcome!

  • All girls that played basketball or are interested in playing basketball next year, please meet coach peters in the gym at the start of lunch today!
  • Relay for life meeting in Ms. Shinn’s classroom in 3H this Friday during lunch. Grab your lunch and see you there.
CAREER CENTER NEWS:
  • City of Bakersfield Rec & Parks has a summer job opportunity as Program Leader for Camp King.  Looking for students with leadership experience who are interested in working with children.  Job announcements in Career Center or call 661-322-9874.

  • Work permit applications are available in the Career Center, once completed turn into Ms. Courtis.  They must be RENEWED for summer and each semester until a student turns 18 or graduates from high school.  Work permits are issued during office Hours (7:30 am -4:00 pm) - please allow 24  hours to process.  

  • Learning-Pro Education is offering free SAT Prep Classes staring April 18th through May 4th at East Bakersfield High School.  Cal/text 661-304-7637 to register or learning-pro.org.  Flyers in Career Center.

FROM THE DEAN’s OFFICE:
  • Attention students
    1. Highland High School will no longer accept or allow food deliveries and persons delivering food will be turned away.
    2. The dirt area across from the student parking lot on Claymore Ave. is posted as no parking during the school day. Anyone who parks in this area during the posted no parking times is subject to a parking citation.
  • Any person who tampers with or breaks a fire alarm or fire protection equipment, triggers a false fire alarm, or makes a false report of a fire AND does so knowingly and maliciously can be criminally prosecuted under California Penal Code 148.4 PC.  Students who are found guilty of making a false fire alarm are subject to administrative discipline, a fine of up to $1000, and/or possible imprisonment.
  • Reminder –Attention Students – It is important for you to be on time to each period, every day. Remember that when you are marked late to first period 2 or more times in a week, you will be assigned after school detention. Also, expect more tardy sweeps starting today. The best way to avoid being assigned after school detention is to be on time to class.
  • This is a reminder to all students that only Highland hats, beanies, and head coverings that are allowed on campus. Non-Highland hats, beanies, and head coverings are subject to confiscation and repeat offenders may be subject to further disciplinary action.
